COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 2010 course covers the principles of clinical research, research study design, the concept of randomized trial and non-randomized studies, practical aspects of clinical trials, health statistics, and disseminating clinical research. In addition, the guiding principles of basic science and bench work, as well as experimental research study designs will be included. This includes biomechanical studies, in vivo studies and research at the cellular and molecular levels. The course should give participants a comprehensive foundation of the present state of health research methodology by covering basic science methods, evidence based medicine principles, outcome assessments, research ethics, data management and collection. The course program consists of lectures, panel discussions, and working groups in breakout sessions.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at clinicians and surgeons in training, in particular in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, and researchers in various basic science disciplines dealing with experimental skeletal trauma research, including biomechanical and animal studies.
SCHEDULE
On Thursday, September 23, 2010, the course will start at 13:00 and will end on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 13:00 hours. The provisional agenda of the course is included in the Second Announcement Brochure below .
