The OTC Foundation is committed to designing and conducting an integrated and complementary set of educational activities with the aim of developing the professional skills of practicing surgeons at all levels, with a special focus on young surgeons.
The strategic philosophy of OTC Foundation is to capture and propagate evidence-based medicine. This educational objective is approached through different mechanisms:
- ♦ Large international events with broad-based attendance by surgeons at different stages of their career, such as the annual Leadership Forum and International Trauma Symposia.
- ♦ Training courses addressing basic, advanced and master levels for surgeons and operating theatre staff, providing indication-based instructions, and bio-skills workshops.
- ♦ Forums on specific topics such as Fagility Fracture Care.
- ♦ E-learning tools, including expert presentations from OTC events, a high-quality image database for members use, and access to the on-line Trauma Hyperguide.
- ♦ Further development of e-learning tools, based upon capturing lectures given at the training courses and at international events.
