The aim of the OTC Foundation Humanitarian efforts is to give trauma patients in difficult socio-economic situations better access to quality medical care an improve patient outcomes.

OTC promotes the interpersonal transfer of knowledge and surgical skills from leading trauma care institutions and experienced health care professionals to hospitals, clinics and institutions in developing countries and underserved regions.

Several OTC-Country Chapters have active programs in place. Prominent examples include the Italian Initiative for Africa and a Canadian Initiative for India.

OTC considers requests for humanitarian or developmental missions under its "Import the Experts" Proram.
